John is self-taught and his overriding aim is that the 'soul' of his subject shines out from the portrait.
He uses various media including pencil, wax crayon, pastels, water-colours and oils. John can work from photographs and, if so, and where possible, he likes to spend time with his subjects to get to know them.
John's studio is in Somerset, but is happy to travel to his client's home, where necessary.
He has completed over 250 portraits in 5 years in the UK and abroad, most of these commissions coming from referrals.
Currently fees start at, £500 for a drawing, £650 for a pastel, £1050 for an oil painting. Quantity discounts are available.
